Sensor Network

The greenhouse, situated in the Agropolis, 5 km from the Campus Baix Llobregat, serves as a research center for Smart Agriculture. It features IoT devices and Wireless Sensor Networks that collect data, which is transmitted to servers via a radio link. This data is gathered from various sensors and a robot equipped to record 4K video.

Use Cases

  • Sensors: There are two types of sensors. On one hand, there is one type that is buried at the root level, capable of analyzing the water characteristics of the soil and the water tension in real-time, providing data and irrigation recommendations on the user's mobile device or browser. On the other hand, the second type of sensor is used for solar radiation, air humidity, air temperature, raw water content, soil conductivity and humidity, and Leaf wetness. These sensors allow good monitoring in agriculture and in particular in agricultural production in greenhouses. The communication of the data is in real-time with a gateway, via Worldwide LTE Cat 4 (with a 4FFGlobalSIM), LoRaWAN, or NB-IoT.
  • 4k video recording robot: a robust and modular multi-purpose mobile platform that can navigate autonomously or be teleoperated using a Pan-Tilt-Zoom camera that transmits video in real-time.
